Detail data

Zenith El Primero is THE cult watch from Zenith. Appeared in 1969 as one of the first chronographs with automatic movement, the A386 definitely belongs to the icons of all vintage watches. Between 1969 and 1971, Zenith produced only 2,500 pieces of the El Primero A386 in three versions - MK1, MK2 and MK3. Only a few have survived until today. The watch collectors label the A386 MK1 as the "Non Plus Ultra" amongst vintage watches. The MK1 version can be identified by the following characteristics:
- case numbers between 538Dxxx - 539Dxxx
- plain caseback (WITHOUT NATO star)
- the internal engraving of the caseback: "Zenith - Swiss made - Acier inoxidable". No Spillman number.
- the case edge is stepped and even without a groove (see pictures). MK2 and MK3 do have a groove at the case edge.

The offered watch has ALL the mentioned characteristics (see pictures) and is therefore doubtless a MK1.

The chronograph features a stunning and unusual three-color dial with contrasting sub-registers and a central red second hand. All dial parts are original and in a very good condition. The lume is 100% original. The only "flaw" to be mentioned is a very tiny perforation in the hour-hand, only visible with a loupe. The crown with NATO star is original. The stainless steel case is unpolished, free of scratches and shows only natural traces. The serial number 538DXXX is clearly readable on the caseback and can be traced back to the first production series from 1969.

Another fact that makes this offer so special is the famous Gay Frères Ladder Bracelet from 1968. The year of manufacture is engraved on the wristband (see pictures).

It is almost impossible to find a MK1 in a completely original and at the same time mint condition. Here we have one. The chronograph leaves an unforgettable impression and feels as something special and unique on your wrist.
