This rare vintage chronograph by Movado dates back to the 1940s – a period many collectors consider the golden era of steel chronographs. The reference 19028 is powered by Movado's in-house calibre M90 – a robust movement known for its unusual operating logic: the lower pusher starts and stops the chronograph, while the upper pusher resets it – the reverse of what's found on most chronographs.
The silver-toned dial displays a beautiful, even patina that highlights the watch’s age and authenticity. It features two sub-registers, an outer tachymeter scale, and a rare central snail scale – a combination that's both technically interesting and visually appealing.
The case was manufactured by the renowned casemaker François Borgel and measures 33 mm. Thanks to its screw-down construction, strong presence and height, the watch wears significantly larger on the wrist. The small FB hallmark on the caseback confirms its origin.
A standout feature are the so-called "tasti tondi" pushers – oversized, radially fluted buttons (sunray pushers) reminiscent of those found on the legendary Patek Philippe Ref. 1463.
The watch is paired with a classic vintage mesh bracelet – a perfect match for this elegant chronograph with heritage.
A highly collectible piece of horological history, full of character and rarity.
