Rolex Daytona 6263

Big Red dial - iconic chronograph

Description
This Rolex Daytona 6263 Big Red with panda dial and black bakelite bezel is in a fantastic overall condition. Named after the race track at Daytona Beach in Florida, the Rolex Daytona is probably more famous today than the motorsport that takes place there. The reference 6263 and 6265 are the last Daytonas with manual wind movement. Together with the prototype reference 6240, the 6263 is one of the first references with screwed pushers and was thus hermetically protected against water.

The case size measures 37mm, but in person, this watch appears larger and commands presence on the wrist thanks to the black bezel. The Oyster case and the panda dial are in excellent condition. The original luminous material has wonderful, creamy color and is identical in the tritium dots and hands. The name Big Red is due to the large, red inscription "DAYTONA" above the subdial at 6 o'clock. The reference 6263 is fitted with a Valjoux 727 manual wind movement that runs strong in all functions. The matching oyster bracelet (reference 78350) with end links 571 is in excellent condition. The code of the bracelet is "G" and dates to 1982, which is exactly the year of manufacture of the watch.
