Description
This is a Universal Genève Polerouter Sub Reference 869120 from the 1960's. A dive watch with a great history and sophisticated design down to the last detail.

If you study the timepieces from the earlier days in detail, you quickly realize that most of the components served a specific purpose. The elements were designed not only for a better look. Everything was functional. That's one of the reasons why we love vintage watches so much and appreciate their history.

A good example of this is the Universal Genève Polerouter Sub, designed for professional divers. The asymmetrical shape of the case has a goal of protecting the screw-down crown during diving. Another important function is fulfilled by the orange minute hand. Underwater, the diver must be able to read the duration of the dive from the bezel as fast as possible. Due to the orange color, the relevant minute hand stands out and the confusion with the hour hand is practically eliminated. In the earlier model, the minute and hour hands differed only in their size. Thus, an essential function has been improved with this new hands configuration.

This particular Polerouter Sub is from the 1960's and has been preserved in a great overall condition. The matte black dial is free of imperfections and absolutely clean. The original luminous material has a wonderful patina that gives the watch a honest and authentic look. The color of the luminous material is matching in the hour markers and hands. The black bakelite bezel is rotatable in both directions. The insert has few signs of aging.

The acrylic crystal is original. This is proven by the UG logo, which can still be seen on the glass. Above the date window is a trapezoidal magnifying glass, which increases the readability of the date.

The watch is accompanied by an original stainless steel bracelet, which is very good preserved. These bracelets are very rare today, especially in such a good condition. The clasp is signed with the UG logo.

The watch is powered by the automatic Micro-Rotor Universal Genève Caliber 1-69. The movement has been checked and runs smoothly, keeping good time.

This Universal Genève Polerouter Sub is an authentic vintage diver's watch with historical relevance, reliable technology and well-thought-out design in every detail.
