Heuer Autavia 73363 Siffert Color

rare model - unpolished case - attractive watch

Description
The Heuer Autavia dates back to the golden age of motorsport. For the racers, the chronograph was an essential tool. The Autavia was worn by many famous motorsport stars such as Jo Siffert, Derek Bell or Jochen Rindt.

The first Autavias were made in the mid-1960s and had manual wound movements. After 1969 most Autavias were equipped with the newly developed automatic Caliber 11. Not all of them, though. There were a relatively limited number of Autavias, which continued to house a manual wound movement of the caliber Valjoux 7733. The reliability of the new automatic Caliber 11 has not yet been proven, whereas the manual Valjoux 7733 has already turned out to be reliable and accurate. In order to meet the higher requirements for military chronographs, for example, Heuer has continued to produce the manual winding Autavias. And such an example is the Heuer Autavia 73363 offered here.

This particular example of the Autavia has a panda dial with two black sub-dials and blue accents. Due to the similarity to the "Siffert"-Autavia this model is called "Siffert Color". The dial is in immaculate condition. Every single luminous dot is intact, as well as the lume in the hands. The beautiful cushion case of this Autavia is in great condition. It was rarely worn, has few signs of usage and is unpolished. The perfectly preserved black bezel is rotatable and has a silver tachymeter scale. The movement Valjoux 7733 has been checked and keeps good time. The start, stop and reset functions of the chronograph work flawlessly.

The reference 73363 of the Heuer Autavia is very rare in the vintage market. This particular specimen offers an excellent condition and is a first-class collector's item.
