Here we offer a 1985 Tudor Monte-Carlo 94200 Big Block with an exotic black-orange dial, a black bakelite bezel and the automatic movement Valjoux 7750.
Introduced in 1976, the reference 94200 was the first watch with an automatic movement from the Rolex group. Thus, this reference marks a very significant step in the history of Tudor and Rolex manufactory. A thicker and higher case was developed to accommodate the automatic movement and the rotor. Hence the model name "Big Block". Due to the colorful and striking dial configuration, this model is also referred to as Exotic or Paul Newman. The Tudor 94200 was the first reference with the additional 12-hour totalizer positioned at 6 o'clock. The chronograph hand is orange, as are the minute numerals on the dial. The fixed bakelite bezel shows a tachymeter scale.
As usual for Tudor, this watch is equipped with some Rolex parts. The screw-down Rolex Triplock crown bears the typical signature. The caseback is signed "Original Oyster Case By Rolex Geneva". The Rolex Oyster bracelet carries the Rolex Coronet and has the typical engraving inside the clasp. The reference number of the bracelet is 78360 and the end pieces have the reference 589.
This example dates from 1985 and has been preserved in a stunning condition. The case has never been polished and has only minimal signs of wear. The dial has been preserved immaculately. The tritium luminous substance is intact everywhere. The black bakelite bezel is absolutely perfect. The chronograph is controlled by the screw-down pushers which operate properly. The automatic movement Valjoux 7750 has been checked. It provides an accurate time keeping. The watch has a date display that can be set immediately with a quickset feature. The bracelet is in excellent condition with very few signs of usage.
To summarize, this exotic Tudor Big Block 94200 offers a great recognition factor, excellent technology and best vintage quality.
