For example, the reference 5508 was the first Submariner to have the bezel with the individual minute markers for the first 15 minutes. A characteristic that remained unchanged in Submariners until today. Another interesting fact is that the Submariner 5508 was the first reference with the format 55xx, which was used until 1990. Furthermore, the Rolex Submariner 5508 is one of the last references that did not have crown guards. This Submariner 5508 is the "Small Crown" model with the small 6mm crown. The later models had a larger crown with guards. And last but not least, it has a high lifestyle value as this model was worn by the legendary James Bond.
