Description
Rolex designed the GMT Master in collaboration with Pan American Airways in the early 1950s. GMT stands for Greenwich Mean Time. The watch has 4 hands: second, minute, hour and GMT hand. Together with the rotating bezel, the GMT hand allowed the pilot to read a second time zone. The very first and rarest GMT Master had the reference 6542 and was produced between 1954 and 1959. Between 1959 and 1980, the reference 1675 was offered and between 1981 and 1988, there was the reference 16750. The major difference between the reference 1675 and 16750 is the quickset date and the improved 3075 movement of the 16750 reference.

The present Rolex GMT Master 16750 is dated to the year 1981 und thus one of the very first and rare examples of the reference 16750 with a black dial and WITHOUT white gold bordered hour markers. The other special feature of this GMT is the beautiful original white lume, which is distributed evenly in the hour markers and hands. The dial is free of scratches or any quirks. The Pepsi bezel has rich colors and has been very well preserved. The stainless steel case is in great condition with only a few natural signs of wear. The automatic movement Calibre 3075 was checked by our watchmaker and runs flawlessly in all functions.

This wristwatch is accompanied by a Rolex Jubilee bracelet with reference 62510 and end pieces 550. It's very rare that the Jubilee bracelet numbers match the watch's year of manufacture. That's exactly the case with this bracelet. The code of the clasp is F, which indicates the same year as the watch: 1981.

This vintage GMT Master is a rare version of the legendary pilot's watch. The top condition makes it a desirable collector's item.
