Rolex GMT Master 16753 Punched Papers

sold in Pisa in 1986 - rare model - mint condition

Description
In the early 50s Rolex introduced a new wristwatch, which showed the time in two different time zones simultaneously. It was an absolute sensation. Especially long-distance pilots were happy about the unusual feature, which is why the GMT-Master went down in history as the pilot's wristwatch. Today it is an undisputable icon and still in production.

This Vintage Rolex GMT-Master 16753 is the two-tone steel-gold version of the GMT-Master, which was introduced in the early seventies together with the all-gold version and is one of the rarest GMT Masters today. Like the steel reference 16750, the 16753 is also considered the "Transitional" version of the GMT Master. These references had some of the features of its predecessor 1675, such as the case, the plastic crystal and the dial. But at the same time, they were equipped with the improved movement. The older GMT Master watches were driven by the Rolex caliber 1570. The reference 16753 contains the newly developed 3075 movement with higher beat rate. In addition, this movement for the first time featured the very useful date-quickset mechanism.

The precious variant of the GMT-Master clearly stands out from the most other Vintage Rolex sports models, which were equipped with black dials. The watch has a brown dial. Due to its similarity to the color of the famous American beer brand, this dial is also called "Root Beer". The attractive caramel-chocolate bezel completes the warm look of the watch.

The special nipple shape of the indices is the origin of another nickname: Nipple Dial. The golden markers of this watch are higher and thicker than a steel GMT.

The condition of the present GMT Master can be rated as 10 out of 10. The case is unpolished, the dial absolutely flawless. Also, the steel-golden Jubilee bracelet is in excellent condition. The bracelet reference number is 62523H.18. The code in the clasp is I8 (1984).

Due to the present original punched papers this GMT is even more valuable. The watch was sold on December 29, 1986 in Pisa, Italy. The country code 224 is correct, since Rolex reserved this number for the retailers from Pisa back then. The serial number 8.633.xxx is punched on the chronometer certificate.

This Vintage Rolex GMT-Master 16753 is an attractive, high-quality wristwatch. Its excellent condition and the original papers leave nothing to be desired.
