A ticking Rolex with a quartz movement? Yes, this watch is real. The quartz era of the watch industry began in the 80s and the watch community was more and more inspired by the precision of the quartz movements. With the Datejust Oysterquartz Rolex wanted to show that the manufactory can keep up with the current trends. In 1977 the Datejust Oysterquartz was presented with the in-house quartz movement 5035. In the end of the 90s the interest in the mechanical watches increased again. In 2003 production of the Rolex Oysterquartz finally ended. With less than 25,000 pieces, the Oysterquartz ranks among the rarest Rolex models. Here is an interesting article about the
history of the Rolex Oysterquartz.
Here we offer you a Datejust Oysterquartz Reference 17000 from 1980. It is a Mark 2 version with COSC certified movement. On the silver dial at 6 o'clock you can see the inscription: "Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified". The predecessor model was not COSC certified and had the inscription "Oysterquartz" at 6 o'clock.
This watch looks very classic and elegant. The long steel markers along with the luminous dots give the dial an aesthetic appearance. The date with the cyclops lupe is at 3 o'clock. Overall, this Rolex Datejust Oysterquartz is in very good overall condition. The stainless steel case still has a very thick profile with few natural signs of wear. The reference and serial numbers are clearly visible on the back of the case.
The in-house Rolex caliber 5035 has been checked and works flawlessly. The original stainless steel oyster bracelet has also been greatly preserved.
Today, the Rolex Oysterquartz is rarely offered. Also on the wrist this Rolex model is a rarity. With our Oysterquartz you get a completely original example in great condition.
