The Rolex Day-Date was the first wristwatch to show the date and day of the week on its dial. The first model with the reference numbers 6510 and 6511 appeared in 1956. In 1961, the reference 1803 came out and featured the improved calibre 1556.
This particular Rolex Day-Date 1803 dates back to 1971 and is really an impressive example. In addition to the excellent condition, this watch is characterized by the so-called "Red Quarters" dial. The outer minute track has red numbers at 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes. That feature makes this watch one of the rarest versions of the Rolex Day-Date 1803. Such special dials stand out from the rest and attract attention of many collectors.
The stepped dial is snow-white and absolutely immaculate. The tritium lume in the hour plots and hands is original and has a nice creamy color. The golden hour markers nicely contrast with the white surface of the dial. The day display is in Italian. The date window with Cyclops is as usual at 3 o'clock.
The case is made of solid 18ct yellow gold and is in top condition. This watch was not often worn, has few signs of usage and a thick profile. The caseback is screwed, the winding crown signed.
This Rolex Day-Date is accompanied by a President bracelet in solid yellow gold. A single bracelet link has a small dent. Apart from that, the bracelet is in great condition. The folding clasp has kept its tension until today, which suggests that this watch was not often on a wrist.
The automatic movement Caliber 1556 is the heart of this Rolex Day-Date. This caliber is known for its reliability and accurate timekeeping. The weekday complication and date display are working properly.
Rolex Day-Date 1803 is one of the most successful and popular watches ever. And here you have the opportunity to get an impressive example of this legend.
