This full set includes a gorgeous Rolex Explorer 1655 with a rare rail dial. The watch dates from 1977 and was sold in 1978 in Germany (LC 100).

The first Rolex Explorer 1655 was introduced in 1971. The trademark of this watch is the orange 24-hour hand, which gives this model the name "Orange Hand" or "Freccione" (Italian for hand). This orange hand indicates the time in the 24-hour format on the bezel. That feature was important for researchers which were working in places lacking daylight. The orange hand of the Explorer told them if it's day or night. The fixed (non-rotating) bezel ensures that the orange hand and the normal hand set always display the same time.

This Rolex Explorer 1655 dates from 1977. The watch has a rare MK3 dial, which is also called "Rail Dial". If you look at the words "SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER" and "OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED", you can see a clean vertical space in the middle, which looks like a rail. At the bottom the dial is stamped with "T SWISS T".

The original Full Set leaves nothing to be desired and consists of:
- Chronometer certificate with punched serial number and LC100 punching (country code 100 for Germany),
- original invoice from 24th November 1978,
- green Rolex box with the reference 10001,
- Rolex outer box,
- two booklets,
- guarantee translation.

The condition of this Explorer is pretty impressive. The black matte dial is absolutely flawless with intact and original tritium lume. The case has a thick profile and sharp edges. The Oyster bracelet has also been preserved nicely. The bracelet reference is 78360, the end pieces have the reference 580. The clasp shows the code VB. The automatic movement calibre 1570 operates flawlessly and provides an accurate time keeping.

This vintage Explorer has everything to be a top-notch collector's watch: excellent condition, undisputed cult status, unique design, important papers and accessories.
