Heuer Autavia watches are closely linked to the motorsport of the 1960s and 70s. Famous names such as Jo Siffert, Gilles Villeneuve, Clay Regazzoni and Derek Bell wore automatic Autavias in the 1970s. The Autavia was a very robust and easy to read watch that was very popular among racers. Thanks to their robust construction, some Autavias have survived over the years until today.
A great example of a Heuer Autavia 1163 from 1971 is offered here. This model is also called "Orange Boy" because of the orange elements that give this watch a fancy look.
This Autavia has also a true vintage character because of the great patina in the dial. The tritium lume has aged evenly in the hour markers and hands and has a lively, dark brown color. The faded, non-repainted chrono hand is a sign of the originality of the watch and makes it honest and authentic. The matte black surface of the dial is in excellent condition. The white sub-dials have also been very well preserved.
The stainless steel case has a robust, thick profile with sharp edges and looks very beautiful and authentic on the wrist. The black bezel indicates hours and minutes and is rotatable in both directions. The crown is signed with Heuer.
This Heuer Autavia 1163 is equipped with the automatic caliber 11. The watches with these early automatic movements have a small triangle under the lug (see pictures), which again points out the originality of this example. All functions of the watch have been checked and are working properly.
This Heuer Autavia 1163 is an attractive sporty vintage watch that has been preserved in a great condition and has a beautiful and authentic look.
