Heuer Autavia 3646 Andretti Tachy - NOS

This Heuer Autavia 3646 is a true treasure - not only for Heuer collectors. The extreme rarity and the untouched condition are hard to beat. In addition, this watch comes with some remarkable accessories, which increase the value of the watch.

The history of Heuer Autavia began in the early 1960s. The newly developed Heuer Chronograph was very popular among professional racers. The watch models today are called with the names of their prominent owners, such as the classic reference 3646, worn by former Formula 1 World Champion Mario Andretti. The watch is called Andretti-Autavia today.

The watch, which is offered here, is a special model of the Andretti Autavia and has a tachymeter scale in the dial, which is missing in the classic Andretti Autavia. Hence the name of this chronograph is "Andretti Tachy". According to many Heuer enthusiasts and collectors, 15 to 20 copies of this version are known so far. It is believed that this dial was not made in series, but was installed only on a special order. Hence this extreme rarity.

This Heuer Autavia comes with the original hangtag on which the official reference number 3646HT is advertised. H indicates the hour markings on the bezel. T stands for the tachymeter scale on the dial. This is the only known Andretti-Tachy-Autavia showing its reference on the hangtag. Another interesting information is on the other side of the hangtag: the original selling price of this watch - 46000 ₤ (Italian lira), which is equivalent to 250€. An original Heuer box is also available.

The original sticker is still attached to the case back of this watch. This suggests that this Autavia was just a few times on the wrist. The stainless steel case is undoubtedly unpolished. This is proven by the razor-sharp teeth of the bezel and the crisp lugs. The dial is absolutely flawless and contains its original tritium luminescent in the hour markers and hands. The manual winding caliber Valjoux 92 is the movement of this Autavia and runs absolutely perfect in all functions.

In the last 10 years only a handful of the Autavia Andretti Tachy has appeared on the international watch market. Not only is this specimen in NOS condition, it may also be the most complete set yet seen on the market.
