Description
Here's another complicated Patek Philippe timepiece, the groundbreaking reference 3448. It was the first automatic perpetual calendar by Patek Philippe. The present watch dates from 1973, which is confirmed by the official Patek Philippe archive.

The reference 3448 was born in 1962. The new modern design came from the Geneva case manufacturer Antoine Gerlach. The reference 3448 got square lugs and larger digits in the date wheel compared to the predecessor reference 2497. The beautiful dauphine hands have remained, but the second hand and the minute scale disappeared. The dial is very harmonious and perfectly balanced. The case is made of solid 18ct yellow gold and measures 38mm in diameter. For its size, this timepiece is called "Padellone" by Italian collectors.

This particular watch is in perfect collector's condition. The dial is absolutely flawless. Crisp case and lugs prove this example's nearly unpolished condition.

The heartbeat of this wristwatch is managed by the complicated caliber 27-460 Q. The letter Q stands for "Quantieme Perpetuel" (perpetual calendar). Many collectors consider this caliber one of the most remarkable watch movements. The complication "perpetual calendar" takes into account not only months with 31, 30 and 28 days, but also the leap year, which occurs every four years and in which the month of February has 29 days. In addition, the reference 3448 has a moon phase display, which is surrounded by the date wheel at 6 o'clock. At 12 o'clock there are two apertures for the day of the week or the month. Perfect working order of all functions is guaranteed by us.

The official excerpt from the Patek Philippe Archive confirms the originality of this watch. Made in 1973 and sold the same year on the 20th of November.

This Patek Philippe perpetual calendar impresses with its harmonious design, complicated movement and excellent condition.
