This cool beauty is the rare reference 884100/01 made by Universal Genève in the 1960s. Due to the bigger minute counter at 3 o'clock this chronograph is called "Big Eye" in the collectors circles. The Universal Genève Uni-Compax is an extremely rare vintage watch. It was first presented in 1963 and produced for a maximum of four years. We are aware of less than 20 examples, which have been offered for sale in recent years.
This particular specimen dates from 1967 and features a reverse panda dial with a black background and white sub dials. The red crosshair on the black surface comes out beautifully. The red lines in the white sub-dials and the dark blue metallic hands in the sub-dials create a unique contrast. Just to imagine, that this chronograph dates from the 1960s is absolutely impressive. The dial design of this watch was definitely ahead of its time.
The stainless steel case of the Uni-Compax is very well preserved and has the classic form of vintage chronographs from the mid-twentieth century. Thanks to the thin bezel and white tachymeter inner ring, the 37mm case appears prominent on the wrist. The movement of this watch is the UG caliber 125, which is based on the Valjoux 23. All functions have been checked by our watchmaker and work properly.
For us this Uni-Compax is a watch to fall in love with. Because of its beauty and rarity, this vintage chronograph is highly appreciated by collectors.
