Description
The reason why this watch is called Zebra is pretty obvious. The Zenith A3637 dates from the 1960s and was produced in different colors. The black and white version that you see here is one of the rarest executions of the reference A3637. Some time ago we also offered a Zenith Big Lemon, which also belongs to this model series.

Back in the 1960s the design of this Zenith reference was pretty futuristic and unusual as it was more popular to wear small watches. But today the big case size and its uncharacteristic design make this watch so special and likeable.

The white dial is surrounded by a black ring with minute markings. At 12 o'clock you can see the Zenith logo and the words "Zenith automatic". The hands and hour markers still contain original tritium lume. Due to natural aging the lume color has changed evenly to a dark green hue. As usual for Zenith watches the date window is positioned between 4 and 5 o'clock. The oval-shaped stainless steel case looks prominent and cool on the wrist. The bakelite bezel has a black and white alternating pattern that fits perfectly with the dial. The crown is screwed down and is correctly signed by the NATO star.

This Zenith A3637 was rarely worn and is therefore in top condition. The case shows some wear, but appears to be unpolished. The dial is very clean and has beautiful patina traces, which can be seen under the loupe. The movement of this A3637 is the in-house Zenith automatic caliber 2552 PC, that was checked by our watchmaker and keeps very accurate time.

The watch is accompanied by a vintage steel bracelet from the Swiss company NSA (also called Swiss NSA). The bracelet also dates from the 1960s and has a Zenith-signed clasp.

This Zenith A3637 Zebra is an impressive vintage wristwatch and a rare collector's item.
