Heuer Autavia 1163 GMT is a chronograph with a second time zone complication. The MK2 version is our absolute favorite among all Heuer automatic GMTs. This watch is very rare and has an impressive dial design.
What makes this watch unique are the small red hands in the sub-dials. That's why this watch is also called "red needles". But why these tiny hands make this watch so rare? The Heuer GMT was very popular among pilots who wore the Autavia at work. However, due to the infrared lighting in the aircraft cabin, the small red hands were barely visible, which made the chronograph's legibility much more difficult. This is why this model was claimed by the pilots. After only 6 months, Heuer stopped the production of the "red needles", which makes this model so rare and valuable today.
This Heuer Autavia 1163 has a striking and vivid design. The combination of colors is very tasteful. Yellow GMT hand, orange chrono seconds hand, red accents on the black dial and of course the blue-red bezel make up the pretty overall picture of this watch. The dial is absolutely flawless and has no scratches. The luminous material in the indices, hour, minute and GMT hands is original.
The case has few signs of wear, but has remained unpolished. The beautiful pillow case is sharp and thick. This GMT chronograph is powered by the famous automatic caliber 11. An additional module takes care of the GMT complication. The movement runs perfectly in all functions.
This Heuer Autavia 1163 GMT is accompanied by the original vintage Single Grain Beads Of Rice Gay Frères bracelet with a signed Heuer clasp. The bracelet dates from the fourth quarter of 1971.
