This attractive Heuer Carrera 1153 N is from the 1970s. It belongs to the family of the famous automatic Heuer chronographs. Until 1969, the Carreras were equipped with the manual winding caliber of Valjoux. In 1969, the in-house and revolutionary automatic caliber 11 was released. It was the world's first automatic chronograph movement whose trademark was the winding crown on the left side of the case. To create a clear distinction between manual and automatic Carreras, Heuer redesigned the case of the Carrera from round to cushion-shaped. In the following years different dial versions were designed and also the automatic caliber was improved.
This particular Heuer Carrera 1153 N comes from 1974 and possesses a blue metallic dial and the improved automatic caliber 12. The overall look of this wristwatch is very harmonious. The dark dial surface and the white elements contrast very well along with the orange second hand and creamy lume.
The dial is in top condition without any scratches. The white sub-dial at 3 o'clock has a tiny spot, which is hardly noticeable at first sight. Otherwise, the dial has been superbly preserved and still has the original and intact tritium lume in the hands and hour markers.
The stainless steel case looks very sharp and unpolished. Few signs of usage give this 45-year-old watch an honest look. The technical condition of the movement was checked by our watchmaker. Timekeeping is accurate and reliable. The chronograph starts, stops and resets properly.
This Heuer Carrera 1153 is not only a nice-looking vintage watch, but also a rare collector's item.
