Mido Powerwind Diver 5907 Rainbow Exotic

This vintage watch from the early 1960s will make the heart of every vintage lover beat faster. The Mido Powerwind Diver Ref. 5907 shows a colorful decompression display on the dial. This exceptional vintage dive watch offers many interesting.

The watch brand MIDO was founded in 1918 by the experienced Swiss watchmaker Georges Schaeren. The manufactory soon enjoyed a reputation as a producer of functional and robust wristwatches. MIDO received its final recognition thanks to the development of a sealing system called Aquadura, which significantly improved the water resistance of wrist watches. Together with the revolutionary development of the one-piece case, water resistance could be guaranteed even at greater depths. At the time, this system was considered groundbreaking.

Here we offer a Mido Powerwind Diver Ref. 5907 MK1. Due to the exotic, colorful dial, this wristwatch is also called Rainbow Diver. Each of the colored center concentric circles correspond to a diving depth, which is indicated on the black background at 12 o'clock in meters. Decompression times are given in minutes within those circles. At the top of the dial at 12 o'clock you can see the unit of measurement - "METRES - METERS". There were also versions with feet as the unit. In the center circle is the applied Mido emblem made of gold.

As mentioned above, this is an early Mark1 version that was produced between 1959 and 1962. The serial number is located between the lugs. The case back shows the diving emblem and the inscription "Guaranteed 300m / 1000ft" and no reference number. The hand set consists of a gold Dauphine hour hand, black minute hand and gold second hand.

The stainless steel case has a diameter of 38 mm. The steel bezel can be turned in both directions and has black numerals and markings. The winding crown is signed with Mido. Even the crystal is original and has the small Mido logo in the middle. The Mido Diver movement is caliber 917PO.

Last but not least, this watch is accompanied by a vintage stainless steel bracelet from 1964. As you can see on the original booklet (see pictures), this watch was delivered with such a Bonklip bracelet. The buckle shows following engravings: "STEELINOX", "SWISS MADE", "MIDO" and 1/64 (first quarter of 1964).
