Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 6009 BA NOS Full Set

This elegant rectangular Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is an extremely rare vintage quartz watch with an even rarer white dial from the early 1980s. The condition of this timepiece can be described in three letters: NOS (New Old Stock). The watch is about 40 years old and almost unworn. The original sticker is still attached to the case back. On the original hang tag you can the reference and serial number, but also the original price of the watch from the 1980s: 26 million Italian liras (about 13 thousand euros). As this price suggests, this Royal Oak was a very exclusive luxury wristwatch not only today but also back then. It was definitely one of the most expensive "time-only" watches of its era.

This Audemars Piguet comes from a time when the quartz watches were very popular. For about 10 years - between 1977 and 1987 - Audemars Piguet produced rectangular wristwatches, which were all powered by a quartz movement. The typical Royal Oak design features such as the tapestry dial or a slim case also shaped the rectangular AP watches.

While most of the rectangular Royal Oaks had a gray dial, the watch you see here has a white guilloche dial. The white Clou-De-Paris pattern is absolutely flawless. The fine gold hour markers and gold hands on the white background provide a nice contrast.

The case is made of solid 18-carat yellow gold and measures 28 x 38 mm. Of course, the case is unpolished. A super-thin profile in combination with the flat sapphire crystal and a step bezel result in a super-elegant overall look. The massive yellow gold bracelet is in mint condition and has full links. When folding the clasp, you can see how tight it is, which is another prove that the watch was only a few times on the wrist.

This AP Royal Oak is powered by the quartz movement caliber 2511. The watch runs very well, the battery has been replaced. This Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 6009 BA comes in an original full set. The original guarantee, sales receipt, booklet, original AP presentation box and the outer carton accompany the watch.

Bottomline: it is an extremely rare and exceptional vintage Royal Oak. Because of the NOS condition and the full set, the watch is (almost) impossible to replace.
