This elegant Rolex Air-King 5500 dates from 1987 and is accompanied by the original full set.
The very first Rolex "Air" models were presented in the 1940s. During the Second World War and immediately afterwards, these watches were produced exclusively for the pilots of the British Royal Air Force. This model was given the nickname "King" due to its diameter of 34mm, which was considered as large back then. In addition to the Air-King, there was also Air-Lion, Air-Tiger and Air-Giant. But the Air-King is the only model that has survived to this day.
The Rolex Air-King 5500 offered here is an elegant wristwatch with a reliable movement. Known for its durability the Rolex automatic caliber 1520 is keeping time very precisely to this day.
The watch has a silver dial that is immaculately preserved. The stainless steel case has few signs of wear, but shows sharp edges and it appears to be unpolished. The original Oyster bracelet accompanies the watch. Bracelet reference is 78350, end link reference is 557, clasp code L8.
The Air-King is not only a beautiful watch to wear, but also a valuable collector's item thanks to the original accessories from the 1980s. The watch was purchased from the first owner in Switzerland on December 9, 1988. The guarantee is perforated with the country code 011 (Switzerland) and labeled with the serial number. The watch is also accompanied by the presentation box, the outer box and the Rolex leather card holder.
