Jaeger-LeCoultre Shark Deep Sea E2643

reverse panda dial - impressive condition - striking look

Description
This Jaeger-LeCoultre Chronograph was manufactured in very limited numbers in the 1960s. Internally, the timepiece was referred to as reference E2643. Externally, the name "Vogue Chronograph" was used. Today's collectors refer to it as "Deep Sea" or "Shark Deep Sea".

The watch features a striking reverse panda dial with three white sub-registers. The running second is at nine o'clock, the minute counter at three o'clock and the hour totalizer at six o'clock. The hour markers are filled with original tritium, which has aged to a beautiful creamy color. At six o'clock the inscription "T SWISS T" informs about the lume material tritium.

The Deep Sea has a large 40mm case with beveled lugs. The sharp edges and bevels suggest that the case was either never polished or lightly polished a long time ago. The intact and sharp engravings on the case back, including the serial number, provide an additional indication that the watch is in an almost unpolished condition. Slight signs of wear can be seen on the case. The bidirectional rotating black bezel has minute markings and is absolutely flawless.

The heart of this vintage chronograph is the famous manual wound movement Valjoux 72. Chronograph icons such as Rolex Daytona and Heuer Autavia were also powered by this legendary Valjoux caliber.

Finding a Jaeger LeCoultre Deep Sea E2643 is extremely difficult - especially if you are satisfied only with an excellent condition. This exceptionally preserved specimen passes this test with flying colors and waits for its next proud owner.
