Longines 4915 Big Size Two-Tone Dial

big 37mm case - elegant 1940s time only watch

Description
This oversized vintage Longines is the reference 4915 from the early 1940s, which follows the philosophy "less is more".

The case of this Longines measures 37mm - a diameter which was very unusual and rare for wristwatches in the 1940s. Longines was definitely ahead of its time with the development of big wristwatches. The thin bezel makes the watch appear even larger. The watch is flat and sits very comfortably on the wrist.

The Longines gains its elegant appearance thanks to the clear and calm look of the silver dial. The Arabic numerals are attached to an inner ring, which has a silver color that differs from the base dial surface. The color difference appears like a reflection when looking at the watch from different angles. Because of this minimalist design feature, the term "two-tone dial" is used.

All three hands on this Longines are metallic blue, even if at first glance they appear to be black. As you can see on the pictures, the hands look black or blue depending on the light incident. The sub-dial with the small second is located at 6 o'clock. In the middle of the dial you can see slight scratches, which an eighty years old watch may have. The Longines is powered by the manual-wound caliber 12.68 Z. It still operates perfectly today.

This 80-year-old Longines shows an honest character and is not only suitable as an elegant dress watch, but also as a rare collector's item.
