Rolex Submariner is the mother of all diving watches. This vintage Rolex Submariner 1680 is a fine example from 1977.

The reference 1680 was introduced in the late 1960s and was manufactured for approximately 10 years. This reference marked a turning point in the history of the Submariner - it was the first Submariner with a date. The cyclops lens with a 2.5x magnification made it easier to read the date.

This particular vintage Submariner dates from 1977. The black, matt dial with large round, rectangular and triangular tritium hour markers is a real highlight of this watch - it's original and absolutely flawless. The white lettering is sharp and intact. "SWISS - T <25" is printed on the dial at 6 o'clock. The original date disc is silver and has open 6 and 9.

Overall, the stainless steel case is in very good condition with few natural signs of wear. The bezel can be rotated in both directions. The black bezel insert, in perfect condition, like with this watch, is relatively difficult to find these days. The Oyster bracelet has the matching reference 93150 and the correct end links 580. The code in the clasp is W4.

This vintage Submariner is powered by the automatic caliber 1575. For the 1680, Rolex used the famous chronometer caliber 1570 and equipped it with a date disc, which was called 1575. However, the bridges were still engraved with 1570. From 1971 the movement was equipped with the hacking-seconds, allowing you for a more precise time setting. The movement of this Submariner has been checked and runs precisely and reliably.
