SoldTavernier is an old French watch brand that was founded by Jean-Pierre Tavernier in the 19th century. The beautiful model name "Squale" is the French word for "shark". Squale was an independent Swiss company that made watch cases for diving watches and sold them to other watch brands. The "Squale" logo appeared on these watches and was a symbol of water resistance and quality. Tavernier was one of the watch brands that used squale cases.
The vintage diving watch offered here has a striking appearance thanks to the orange dial and the black and orange bakelite bezel. The watch features a lolly-pop seconds hand, large hour hands and a date window at 3 o'clock. The large 43 mm case has a cushion shape and is screwed. The case back and the winding crown are signed. The watch is accompanied by the original stainless steel bracelet, which is very comfortable to wear. The "Squale" logo can be seen on the clasp.
The excellent condition of this watch increases its collector's value. The dial is perfectly preserved and has original, non-repainted tritium in the hands and hour markers. The bakelite bezel, which is often in bad condition, is also absolutely flawless. The deep engravings on the bottom and the sharp case curves indicate that the watch is preserved unpolished.
