Description
This beautiful pilot watch dates from the 1960s. The Universal Genève Aero-Compax 890101/01 has a black and white 24-hour dial and a large 41mm case.

The dial of the Aero-Compax has a 24-hour display. That means the hour hand makes one round trip during 24 hours, instead of 2 as it is usual with "normal" wristwatches. The question: "Is it 6am or 6pm?" can be answered immediately after one quick look at the Aero-Compax. This feature was very useful for pilots who have made long intercontinental flights. The rotating 24-hour bezel also allows the display of a second time zone.

The Aero-Compax is also a chronograph that has a special 15-minute counter. You can usually see a 30- or 45-minute counter. The duration of 15 minutes comes from aviation - it's the duration of an airplane check before take-off. The Aero-Compax was therefore equipped with a 15-minute register. It also has a 12-hour totalizer at 6 o'clock.

The large stainless steel case measures 41mm in diameter and is very comfortable on the wrist. The lugs are very well preserved. The case has only a few natural signs of wear. All engravings on the case back are deep and legible. The reference number on the case back is 890100/01. The winding crown is correctly signed with the UG logo. The movement of this pilot watch is the modified version of the Venus 178 caliber. All functions have been checked and are working properly.

This Universal Genève Aero-Compax is a high-contrast pilot's watch that has been greatly preserved and offers a striking look on the wrist.
