Breitling Cosmonaute 1809 NOS

almost unworn - original bracelet - box and booklet

Description
This stunning Breitling Cosmonaute Chronomatic 1809 is a vintage pilot's watch from 1969 with a 24-hour dial. The chronograph is in mint condition and is accompanied by the original stainless steel bracelet, box and booklet.

In the 1950s, Breitling presented its first chronographs that were powered by mechanical manual-wound movements. From then until today, Breitling has been one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality stopwatches and chronographs. In 1969 Breitling, in collaboration with Buren and Heuer, developed the first chronograph movement with an automatic winding - the Caliber 11/12. A unique feature of these movements is the position of the winding crown on the left side of the case. The new Breitling chronographs that were equipped with these automatic movements were given the name CHRONOMATIC. Inspired by the trend of the 1970s, the new chronographs had large cases and colorful, distinctive dials. A special version of the Breitling Chronomatic was the Cosmonaute with a 24-hour dial like the reference 1809 from 1969 offered here.

The black dial has two silver sub-registers and a date window with red numbers. The Arabic numerals are filled with original tritium. The hour and minute hands also contain original tritium lume and are outlined in orange. The chrono seconds hand and the small hand of the 30-minute counter are orange, the hand of the 12-hour counter is black. The dial is preserved immaculately without any imperfections.

This watch has a large 47mm case with a screwed back, which shows deep and sharp engravings. The case is unpolished and almost unworn. The only thing to complain about is a small dent on the upper-right lug. The internal rotating bezel has a slide rule that allows complex mathematical calculations and was used as a navigation computer for pilots. This Breitling Cosmonaute 1809 is powered by the automatic caliber 12, which of course operates perfectly. The watch is accompanied by the original Breitling box and Breitling brochure.

The bracelet of this Cosmonaute is the original Breitling stainless steel bracelet from the 1970s. The clasp is signed with the Breitling logo. The bracelet is in an almost unworn condition to match the watch.

Overall, this Breitling Cosmonaute 1809 is a legendary pilot's wrist chronograph that has been preserved in mint condition.
