Zenith El Primero A384 Tropical - Unpolished

tropical dial - unpolished case - gay-frères bracelet

Description
Caramel, Cappuccino, Tropical ... There are many nicknames for these unique dials. This excellently preserved Zenith EL Primero A384 dates from 1971 and is accompanied by a Gay-Frères steel bracelet.

It's really hard to find the right words to describe the astonishing look of this watch. The sub-dials and the tachymeter scale were originally black. Over the years they have turned to the warm caramel color that we see today. The warm appearance of this EL Primero watch is also supported by the creamy tritium lume.

The El Primero features a 70s retro style stainless steel case. The watch is almost unworn and has hardly any signs of wear. The lugs are sharp, the sunburst finish is intact and the serial number on the case back is clearly legible: an unpolished case in dream condition. The NATO star can be seen on the case back and on the original winding crown.

This vintage chronograph owes its great historical importance to its movement. Zenith El Primero caliber 3019 PHC was the first automatic chronograph movement with a high frequency of 36,000 VPH. Even Rolex used the El Primero movement for its Daytona chronograph, which is why it is called the "Zenith Daytona". The caliber 3019 PHC offers a 30-minute counter, a 12-hour totalizer and small running seconds. This movement also features a quick set date. All functions have been checked and operate flawlessly.

An original stainless-steel Gay-Frères ladder bracelet from the 1970s accompanies the chronograph. These light bracelets are very comfortable to wear. The clasp is stamped 2/72.

This Zenith El Primero A384 is a vintage wristwatch with a breathtaking appearance and a historically important movement. Its rarity and excellent condition make it an extremely valuable collector's item.
