This is a rare version of the Omega Ranchero 2990-1 from 1959 with a honeycomb dial, broad-arrow hand and a beautiful vintage patina.
This Omega Ranchero features a super-rare honey-colored dial called the honeycomb dial. Further, it is called waffle dial due to its surface, which is reminiscent of a waffle. Watches with this dial are in great demand and extremely rare. At the moment of writing of this description, no second Omega Ranchero waffle dial is offered online.
The dial has triangular gold-bordered hour markers. The hours are indicated by a browd-arrow hand, which is popular with collectors. The hour markers as well as the hands are filled with original radium lume, which has never been restored/repainted. The radium can be detected with a Geiger counter (see pictures). The natural patina on the dial gives the watch a great vintage look and makes it absolutely honest. At 6 o'clock there is a sub-dial with running seconds.
The 36mm stainless steel case has a flat profile and perfect proportions for a dress watch. The watch is very comfortable to wear on the wrist. On the snap-on case back you can see the deeply engraved word "WATERPROOF", which speaks for an unpolished or very lightly polished case. This Ranchero has only a few natural signs of wear and at the same time it shows a strong profile. The overall condition is pretty impressive, especially considering that this watch is over 60 years old. The watch is powered by the robust and reliable Omega caliber 267. The movement operates properly keeping accurate time.
Overall, a pretty remarkable example of an Omega Vintage watch waiting for its next proud owner.
