Rolex Date 15000 Full Set

This classic Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date is the rare five-digit transitional reference 15000 and it's accompanied by an outstanding full set from 1989.

The very first Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date was presented in the mid-1950s and had the four-digit reference number 65xx. In the 1960s, Rolex introduced the 15xx reference family. Until then, these watches did not have a quick date function, i.e. the date could not be set independently of the hands. That changed with the five-digit reference 15xxx that was introduced in the 1980s. This rare transitional version was produced in a short production time. The watches had the popular acrylic crystal from the previous reference 15xx. At the same time, the reference 15xxx was equipped with the improved chronometer caliber 3035, which had a quick-set date. The reference 15xxx paved the way for the sapphire glass Perpetual Date introduced in the 1990s, which is still in production today.

The vintage Rolex Date 15000 offered here has a smooth bezel and a gray dial. The present watch is an extremely valuable collector's item not only because of its rarity, but also thanks to the original accessories and the preserved condition. The watch is accompanied by a full set consisting of the following accessories:
- Chronometer certificate from 1989, punched with country code 200 (Italy) and serial number L348xxx (1989), sold in July 1989 in Milan, the certificate is provided with a label showing the reference 15000 and the serial number of the watch,
- original sales invoice dated July 13, 1989,
- Rolex guarantee translation,
- Booklet / instruction manual in Italian,
- green presentation box,
- outer box.

The gray dial is in pristine condition. Every single luminous dot is fully intact and consists of original, not repainted tritium. The Oyster case is excellent and has been preserved unpolished and shows no scratches or dents worth mentioning. The stainless steel Oyster bracelet is also in excellent condition and shows hardly any stretch. The bracelet reference is 78350. The clasp code M9 tells us that the bracelet was manufactured in September 1988.

This vintage Rolex Date 15000 is a classic Rolex watch from the 1980s that combines elegance and precision. The rarity, the excellent condition and the complete collector's full set together make an extremely valuable collector's item.
