Description
We proudly present you the first execution Heuer Autavia 2446 from 1962. The vintage chronograph is one of the "holy grails" of Vintage Heuer collecting.

The main feature of the first Heuer Autavia was the dial with large white sub-registers, hence the nickname "Big Subs". The later versions of the Heuer-Autavia 2446 had smaller sub-registers. The Big Subs Autavia is an extremely rare vintage watch with about 10 known examples worldwide.

There were different versions of the Big Subs. The watch offered here has the very first and earliest version with fully luminous hands. Both the serial number 49xxx, which can be found between the lugs, and the movement number 456387 are a perfect match for this early dial design.

The stainless steel case has retained its beveled lugs. The screwed back shows crisp engravings. The winding crown is original and shows the Heuer logo. This Autavia is equipped with a decimal bezel that has been preserved in NOS (new old stock) condition. The reverse panda dial looks absolutely fantastic and is preserved in great vintage condition. Both the black surface and the white sub-registers aged evenly and show natural patina. Thanks to the Valjoux 72 caliber, this Autavia is also technically on the highest level. The legendary manual-wound movement was used for the Rolex Daytona for a reason.

This Autavia has been fully serviced by Abel Court (Mastering Vintage Timepieces) in February 2021. The passionate watchmaker is known for his excellent work, especially with vintage Heuer watches. The movement was overhauled, the case professionally refurbished and the hands relumed. The original invoice is available. All works are documented in the original invoice accompanying the watch.
