Description
This rare 1960s Eberhard Contograf 31501-874 comes from its first owner and impresses with its excellent unpolished condition.

Eberhard was founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1887 and specialized in production of precision watches and chronographs. The manufacturer has been known for being innovative and open to new ideas since early years. When Eberhard presented the Contograf in the 1960s, the new watch surprised with its new functions. Not only the unusual position of the date display at 6 o'clock, but also the small pusher for quick-setting the date at 9 o'clock caused a sensation. Not to mention the roulette-style date: the numbers on the date disc are alternately red and black.

The present Eberhard Contograf has a rare silver dial. Most of the specimens were black. It is a "non-lume" dial without luminous material, which is common with this model. A black tachymeter scale showing up to 1000 units per hour is attached to the outer edge of the dial. The red "50" marks 50 km/h, which at the time was the speed limit in most European countries. There is also a red 45-minute marker in the sub-dial at 3 o'clock.

What makes this vintage watch so attractive to collectors is without a doubt its excellent condition. It comes from the first owner who never had it polished. The stainless steel case has its full profile with sharp lugs. On the case back you can see fully intact engravings of the model name and the Eberhard logo. The rotating black bezel with a red triangle is also original and preserved in very good condition.

The chronograph is powered by the Eberhard manual-wound caliber 310-82. This movement is considered to be very robust and reliable. The present watch has been checked and ensures accurate timekeeping. All functions of the chronograph operate perfectly.

A nice addition to this highly collectable vintage watch is its original blue Eberhard box.

This Eberhard Contograf 31501 is one of the most important chronographs of the 1960s. The present watch has been preserved in breathtaking condition, which is extraordinary for such an old timepiece.
