The Omega Constellation 168.0065 is a chronometer-certified vintage wristwatch from the 1970s.
The Constellation family was introduced in 1952. The watches had an emblem showing an astronomical observatory on the case back. There are also eight stars, which symbolize two chronometer world records and six first places that Omega achieved between 1933 and 1952. Thus, the Omega Constellation represented the highest art of watchmaking of its time. This was the first time that a brand brought out a model line made up entirely of chronometers.
Apart from first-class mechanics, the Omega Constellation offers an outstanding design. A very popular variant is the Omega Constellation offered here with the so-called "Pie Pan" dial and the word "OMEGA" at 6 o'clock. Most of the watches have "OMEGA" under the Omega symbol at 12 o'clock. The "inverted Omega" variant presented here is much rarer. The date with quickset mechanism is at 3 o'clock. The stick-shaped hour markers have black onyx inlays. The Dauphine hands also have black inlays. The dial is untouched and flawlessly preserved.
The stainless steel case measures 34mm in diameter and has been preserved unpolished. At 8 o'clock there is a small dent, but it doesn't really catch the eye. The lugs have an exotic shape and contribute to the beautiful vintage look of this wristwatch. The original Omega stainless steel bracelet reference 1503 accompanies the Constellation. The bracelet is light and very comfortable to wear. The watch is powered by the Omega Chronometer caliber 1011. The automatic movement offers a quickset date and a hacking seconds function.
The vintage Omega Constellations are very popular with watch collectors and are often referred to as "Connies". The Constellation 168.0065 offered here is without a doubt one of the best examples on the market.
