Description
The matt black Orfina Porsche Design from the 1970s has become an absolute classic. Ferdinand Porsche was personally involved in the design of this watch. The black dial with red and white hands reminds us of the speedometer and tachometer design of the old Porsche 911. The watch was created to match the famous racing car. The result was a simple killer look thanks to the black PVD-coated case and easy readability of the dial. Presented in 1972, Orfina Porsche Design was the first chronograph with a matt black PVD coating and triggered a real boom at the time. The Porsche Design watch soon became part of the basic equipment of every Porsche 911 driver.

Here you can see a great preserved example from around 1974, which is powered by the automatic caliber Valjoux 7750. The black PVD coating often shows heavy wear or flaking, which is why the old watches are often re-coated. The present example has the original coating, albeit with small flaws on the bezel and case, which are, however, barely visible. All engravings on the case back including the serial number are intact and clearly legible. The dial is absolutely flawless and has original tritium in the hour markers. The authentic and honest overall condition makes this Orfina Porsche Design 7750 a collectable vintage watch that you can wear and enjoy on your wrist every day.

From a technical point of view this chronograph offers a whole range of functions. The watch has a small seconds dial at 9 o'clock. The seconds hand stops when pulling out the crown (hacking mechanism). A weekday and date display with quickset is at 3 o'clock. The crown has three positions. The first position is for winding the watch. In the second crown position, the date is set by turning in the winding direction and the day of the week by turning contrary the winding direction. The time is set in the third position. The chronograph has a central red seconds hand. The 30-minute counter is at 12 o'clock and the 12-hour totalizer at 6 o'clock. All functions operate absolutely perfect.

The watch is accompanied by the original PVD-coated bracelet, which has been preserved in excellent condition to match the watch. It shows hardly any signs of wear and has its full original length. The clasp is signed with the PD logo.

The Vintage Orfina Porsche Chronograph is a cool classic from the 1970s that is enjoying ever-increasing demand. And this authentic example is waiting for its next proud owner.
