This is a Rolex Datejust 1625 Turnograph from 1972 with a stainless steel case, silver-colored dial and white gold rotating bezel.
Despite its historical significance, the Turnograph is one of the most underrated Rolex models. The Turn-o-Graph came out in 1953 and was the first Rolex wristwatch to feature the rotating bezel, which made it easier to read the elapsed time. The rotating bezel was later adopted from Rolex's most popular models such as Submariner or GMT Master. Although the first versions of the Turn-o-Graph looked similar to the future Submariner, the later versions have been put into the Datejust family and were fitted with a metal bezel and a date window with the Cyclop's loupe. This "new" and special Datejust was produced between 1959 and the mid-1970s. Today's vintage collectors call this watch Datejust Turnograph. Here you can see a beautiful specimen from 1972.
The watch on offer has a very nicely preserved silver dial. Tiny patina dots and little imperfections on the lower edge of the dial can only be seen with a loupe and give the watch an honest vintage character. The sunburst finish is intact. The tritium luminous material is original, as we were able to prove with a UV test. The stainless steel case is in great condition showing a few signs of wear and sharp lugs. The white gold bezel could hardly be better preserved and has sharp teeth.
The watch comes with an original Rolex Jubilee bracelet made of stainless steel that has evenly aged to match the condition of the watch. The movement is the automatic caliber 1570, which of course has been checked by us and provides accurate timekeeping.
This Rolex Datejust Turnograph 1625 is an elegant vintage wristwatch that also has a sporty character due to its unusual bezel. A perfect mix of beautiful design, valuable collector's item and reliable timepiece.
