Heuer Carrera 1553 N

attractive design - martini racing colors - automatic chronograph

This vintage automatic chronograph is the Heuer Carrera 1553N from the 1970s.

The family of automatic Carreras was expanded to include the reference 1553 in 1972. The first two numbers stand for the caliber of the watch. The reference 1153 was powered by the caliber 11 and the 1553 had the improved caliber 15. The watches with this movement can be recognized by the small subdial with permanent running seconds at 10 o'clock.

This particular Carrera has the reference 1553N, where the letter N (noire) stands for the dark blue dial. The high-contrast dial shows a silver-colored stripe with the model name Carrera running in to the 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock. The metallic surface has a lighter or darker shade of blue depending on the incidence of light. The chrono second hand is orange. The close connection between the Heuer brand and motorsport can also be seen in this Heuer-model: the dial colors correspond to the colors of the Martini Racing Team.

The beautiful condition of the present example makes it very valuable and worth collecting. The cushion-shaped stainless steel case shows sharp edges and an intact burst finish. The dial is honestly aged and has no flaws worth mentioning. The tritium luminous material is original and not relumed. The movement operates perfectly and ensures precise timekeeping.

The automatic Carreras caliber 15 are among the rarer versions of the Heuer Carrera and are therefore highly valued by collectors. In addition, there is the attractive and unusual design and of course the excellent condition - a real treasure on the wrist.
