The Rolex Turn-O-Graph was introduced in 1953 and was Rolex's first wristwatch with a rotating bezel. The Turnograph model was not continued, but was integrated into the Datejust family and given the reference 1625. This "special" Datejust was produced in steel and steel-gold versions until the 1970s and is called the Datejust Turnograph by today's vintage collectors. Here you can see a late specimen produced in 1978 and sold in 1979.
The watch offered here has an elegant appearance thanks to the combination of a black step dial and a two-tone case. The black step dial is very popular with collectors. Every single tritium dot as well as the lume inside the hands is original and was never repainted. The Rolex logo and the hands are made of gold. The rotating bezel is also made of yellow gold and can be rotated in both directions. The 36mm case has sharp lugs and hardly any signs of wear. The automatic movement caliber 1570 features a hacking seconds function and keeps time very good. The original steel gold Jubilee bracelet shows only slight stretch and is preserved in great condition to match the watch.
This Datejust becomes a first-class collector's watch thanks to the the original full set from 1979. The chronometer certificate is punched with the serial number. The watch was sold in January 1979 by the traditional company "Uhrmachermeister Rudolf Hübner" in Vienna, Austria. Also available: original presentation box, green leather guarantee holder, guarantee translation. The watch was serviced by Rolex in 2018 - the service guarantee card is also available.
