Description
This Rolex GMT Master is a very early version of the transitional reference 16750 from 1981.

The Rolex GMT Master is now one of the most popular vintage collector's watches. Its long history started in 1954 when the reference 6542 was introduced. In 1959 the relatively long production time of the reference 1675 began, which lasted until 1981. In 1988 the GMT Master 16700 with sapphire crystal was presented. In the transitional period between 1981 and 1988 the reference 16750 was produced. This model featured the acrylic crystal of the predecessor reference 1675 and at the same time it was powered by the improved movement with quickset date. The transitional GMT 16750 was available with two different dial variants. The later dial was glossy with white gold rimmed hour markers and the earlier (and much rarer) one had a matte finish and markers without borders. The GMT Master offered here is one of the earliest examples of the reference 16750. Based on the serial number, the year of manufacture can be determined as 1981: the year in which the reference 16750 was introduced.

This particular watch scores with its excellent condition. The dial is absolutely flawless and has original tritium lume, which has aged evenly in the hour markers and hands. The rotating Pepsi bezel shows rich colors and is scratch-free. The Oyster case is also in collectible condition: there are hardly any signs of wear and the lugs are sharp. The Jubillee bracelet is also from the early 80's. The bracelet reference is 62510H with 550 end links. The clasp code is H8. The Rolex automatic caliber 3075 ensures accurate timekeeping.
