The attractive Vacheron Constantin reference 4539 is an ultra rare "time-only" wristwatch of which only a handful are known. This particular specimen is preserved in "like NOS" condition.
The watch offered here dates from the late 1940s and is made of solid 18k yellow gold. A highlight of this vintage watch is its large 38mm diameter: an unusual size for a wristwatch from the 1940s.
The condition of the champagne dial with its original sunburst surface is just amazing. Even under a magnifying glass, no scratches, no dirt spots or other flaws are visible. The Arabic numerals and the hands are made of yellow gold, the central seconds hand is black. Overall, a charismatic dial that harmonises wonderfully with the yellow gold case.
The minimalist case design with a flat bezel and long straight lugs ensures a calm look. The case is in top condition and has its full proportions. The engraving of the gold hallmark on the back of the lug is still intact.
The watch is powered by the manual-wound caliber P454/5C operating properly keeping very good time.
The reference 4539 is undoubtedly one of Vacheron Constantin's rarest "time only" wristwatches. The timepiece offers an image of elegant balance and impresses with its almost NOS condition. Overall a unique collector's watch.
