This Breitling Premier 788 belongs to the family of chronographs that Breitling released in the 1940s. Unlike the sporty models such as Navitimer, Chronomat or Cosmonaute, the reference 788 belongs to the elegant timepieces that were intended for more dressed-up occasions.
Here you can see a superb example from around 1945. The watch owes its charming appearance to the lightish dial, which has an even ivory patina. The triangular hour markers and the diamond hands are gold-bordered and contain original radium lume showing with creamy patina. The three sub-registers - 30-minute counter, 12-hour totalizer and running seconds - feature concentric decoration, giving the dial symmetry and balance. The blue tachymeter scale gives the watch a functional and sporty character. Overall, the Premier Chrono has a very harmonious and warm vintage look.
The screw-down stainless steel case with round pushers measures 36mm and has beautiful beveled lugs. On the wrist, the domed acrylic crystal adds an extra vintage feel.
