Heuer Triple Calendar Chronograph 2547 38mm

extremely rare 38mm - museums quality - valjoux 72c

Description
This Heuer Calendar Chronograph 2547 from the 1940s offers museum quality. Unique and irrecoverable.

Heuer's first wristwatches with calendar function were made in the 1940s. While most references featured a snapback, the reference 2547 was the only one to have a screw-down caseback and was thus considered waterproof. It was also equipped with round pushers rather than rectangular ones, which further ensured the higher water resistance.

The reference 2547 is an extremely rare timepiece. Less than 20 pieces are known to exist worldwide. Of these, only a few are preserved in reasonably good condition. This circumstance makes the specimen offered here quite unique.

The condition of this approximately 80-year-old watch is like a miracle. A clean dial with wonderful authentic patina, original radium lume, stainless steel case with sharp lugs and a perfectly working Valjoux 72C movement. To be honest, this specimen belongs in the Heuer museum.

The large 38mm stainless steel case houses a three-register dial under an acrylic crystal. The date is shown via the central hand, which has a color matching blue triangular tip and reaches to the edge of the dial. The day of the week and month are displayed in English in the two apertures at 12 o'clock. Calendar functions can be adjusted via small pushers on the left side of the case. The large subdials and the large Arabic hour numerals are responsible for a striking look of this watch.

The chronograph is powered by the reliable manual-wound caliber Valjoux 72C. C stands for Calendar. This iconic movement can also be found in Rolex calendar watches from this era.
