This Universal Genève White Shadow is an ultra-thin quartz watch from the 1970s with a stylish retro design.

Introduced at the 1975 Basel Fair as the world's thinnest quartz movement (3.45mm), the Caliber 74 was part of Universal Genève's super-thin "Shadow" family. The models named "Golden Shadow" were equipped with a precious metal case. The name "White Shadow" was used for the models with stainless steel cases.

What makes this watch an eye-catcher is undoubtedly the large rectangular stainless steel case. Despite its relatively large dimensions of 38x35cm, it still looks smooth and elegant on the wrist due to its flat profile. And of course, there's a fantastic silver dial with a beautiful sunburst finish that adds to the classic elegance on the wrist. The long thin hour markers and hands provide a clean look to the dial.

Condition report
Dial: very well preserved - clean sunburst finish - barely visible spots between 8 and 9 o'clock (only visible under 10x loupe) - signed "Swiss".

Case: without noteworthy wear marks - intact lugs - clearly legible reference and serial number on the back.

Movement: quartz caliber 74 - operates perfectly.

Strap: original Universal Genève leather strap - normal wear - the impregnation "U Universal" is still visible inside the strap.

Overall, a fancy vintage quartz watch that will bring a lot of joy on the wrist of a stylish person.
