The IWC Aquatimer 1812 is a 1970s diver's watch from the traditional Schaffhausen manufacture. This super valuable specimen is accompanied by original papers, original Gay-Frères steel bracelet and extract from the archive.
In November 1966, IWC produced the first deep-sea diver from Schaffhausen, namely the reference 1812 (also known as the reference 812 AD). There is hardly a suitable name for a diver's watch: Aquatimer combines "water" (aqua) and timer. With its features such as the rotating inner bezel, screw-down case back, or luminous hands and markers, the Aquatimer has typical design characteristics of a 1960s/70s diver's watch.
This particular present IWC Aquatimer 1812 was sold on September 6, 1977 in Lenzburg, Switzerland. This is confirmed by the official IWC archive extract from 2012, and there is also the original warranty book with an IWC stamp showing the case number of the watch.
The present specimen is one of the last versions of the IWC Aquatimer. Reportedly, less than 2000 copies were made in the 60s and 70s.
This IWC Aquatimer comes with its original Gay Frères bracelet from the 1970s. The clasp is signed with the IWC logo. These vintage stainless steel bracelets are super rare and sought after. They sit very comfortably on the wrist and look very fine. There is also a black Tropical bracelet with an IWC clasp available.
