SoldWith this model, Girard Perregaux managed to combine two then innovative technologies in one timepiece: quartz movement and LED display. Launched in 1976, the watch was already withdrawn from the collection in 1978. About 8200 pieces were produced in cases made of steel, gold-plated steel and polycarbonate. Due to its case shape, it was nicknamed Casquette (peaked cap) and enjoyed great popularity over the years, especially among style-conscious watch wearers.
Here we offer you the reference 9931 with a steel case in top condition. The original GP sticker can still be seen on the back of this watch. The trademark of the Casquette is of course the red LED display, which can be read from the bottom lug and was at that time the smallest display in the world with four digits. Displayed are hours and minutes, seconds or the day of the week and the date. By tapping the pusher on the right side of the case, the desired display is changed. With the small button on the left side, all displays can be adjusted.
The present specimen comes with the beautiful original stainless steel bracelet and is accompanied by the original GP box.

Case: stainless steel case - light wear/storage marks - original GP sticker still visible - deep engravings on caseback.
Movement: in-house quartz caliber GP 350 in perfect working order.
Bracelet: original Girard Perregaux stainless steel bracelet in excellent condition with almost no signs of wear - engraving in the clasp: "100% Stainless Steel" - GP logo on the outside.
Summing-Up
The Casquette is definitely a watch that attracts a lot of attention. In 2022 Girard-Perregaux has relaunched its iconic model and named it "Casquette 2.0". But the original remains the original.
