This charismatic and cool chronograph is the Tudor Oysterdate 94200 Big Block from the 1970s in its blue version, which is very popular and sought-after by collectors.

In 1976, the house of Wilsdorf presented its first automatic chronograph. And it was not a Rolex, but the Tudor 94200, 12 years before Rolex launched its first automatic Daytona, in 1988. With the new Oysterdate chronograph, the Tudor was equipped with a larger case to accommodate the Valjoux 7750 automatic movement, hence the nickname "Big Block". The dial received the words "Automatic Chrono Time" above the totalizer at 6 o'clock. The new dial layout now had 3 sub-registers at 12, 6 and 9 o'clock and the date window with the magnifying glass at 3 o'clock. Early examples, like this particular watch, did not have the model name "Oysterdate" below the Tudor logo at 3 o'clock.

This Tudor features an exotic blue dial. That is why collectors refer to these Oysterdates as "Big Block Monte Carlos" or "Exotic Big Blocks." The blue version is very rare and especially popular. The color combination of gray, blue and orange is very harmonious.

Dial: very good, clean dial - a tiny scratch in the 12-hour register - original tritium luminous material - matching tritium color in hands and markers - signed with "T SWISS MADE T".

Case: big block stainless steel case with intact thick profile - light wear marks - original screw-down Rolex crown and screw-down pushers - engraving on the back: "ORIGINAL OYSTER CASE BY ROLEX GENEVA".

Bezel: flawless blue Bakelite bezel with tachymeter scale up to 500 hour units.

Movement: automatic caliber Valjoux 7750 - timegrapher: +9s/day, amplitude: 295, beat error: 0.2.

Bracelet: original Rolex Oyster bracelet - very slight stretch - bracelet reference 78360 - end links reference 589.

This vintage Tudor chronograph combines the high quality of a Rolex watch and a bombastic vintage Tudor design. A cool and super reliable wristwatch for daily wear and a valuable collectible in very nice condition.
