Heuer Monaco 1133B Steve McQueen Monaco

great condition of the dial - iconic Steve McQueen model

Description
The Swiss brand Heuer set new fashion trends of the 1970s with its cult square chronograph. Here you see the original Heuer Monaco 1133B from the early 1970s with a blue dial and original stainless steel bracelet.

This vintage chronograph creates many emotions among collectors not only because it was named after the famous race track in Monaco, but also because of the 1970 movie "Le Mans", in which Steve McQueen wore a Heuer Monaco 1133B on his wrist and made this timepiece world famous.

The particularly high status of the Heuer Monaco in collector circles is also due to the very small number of produced pieces. According to Jack Heuer, the head of the company at the time, a total of only 4,500 Heuer Monaco chronographs were produced between 1969 and 1974, and this number includes all references and variants of the Monaco. Many fewer are still preserved in good condition today. The rarity of this legendary chronograph is obvious.

From a technical point of view, the Monaco 1133B was also a sensation. It was the first watch with a square case that was truly water resistant. And of course, the Monaco was powered by the automatic chronograph caliber 11, one of the first of its kind.

Due to its great overall condition, the specimen offered here has a high collector's value. Of particular note are the corners of the dial, which are absolutely clean and intact, as you can see in the pictures with the case disassembled. And this is really extraordinary, because Monacos are known for the fact that the remains of old seals on the corners of the dials decompose and react with the varnish of the dial. But on this specimen, there is no trace of it. Every corner is absolutely cleanly preserved.

Summing-Up
In collector circles, they say, "An Autavia and a Carrera belongs in every Heuer collection. But a Monaco belongs in every watch collection." The 1970s Heuer Monaco 1133B is a design icon that was Steve McQueen's choice for a reason. This example meets the high standards of condition, making it an extremely valuable vintage collector's watch.
