Movado M90 Chronograph 19033

stepped lugs case - chapter ring - blue tachy

Description
This Movado chronograph is a rare timepiece from the 1940s powered by the manual-wound caliber M90. The famous Movado chronograph movements M90 and M95 were highly appreciated at that time for their usefulness and ease of service. The M90 had two sub-registers, while the M95 was essentially an M90 caliber with an additional module for the hour register. A distinctive feature of these movements was their flat profile despite the chronograph complication. This in turn allowed for a flat and elegant case design.

Another special thing about the M90 movement is the way the chronograph works. The lower pusher starts and stops the chronograph. The upper pusher resets it. On most chronographs, the functionality of the pushers is exactly the opposite.

Here you can see a 37mm chronograph from the 1940s. We love the subtle natural patina of the original dial. A gold-tone chapter ring divides the silver dial into an outer section with the blue tachymeter scale and an inner section with applied arrow-shaped gold markers and two sub-registers. The 60-minute counter at 3 o'clock features the signature Movado serpentine hand.

The stainless steel case with finely-stepped lugs is a highlight in itself. Thanks to the thin bezel, the case looks a bit larger on the wrist.
