Description
The world of vintage watches is full of surprises - even after more than 30 years, we discover extraordinary watches that we never knew existed. The Leda Chronodate is undoubtedly one of them. This truly exceptional vintage full calendar chronograph wristwatch from the 1950s features a rotating bezel for setting the calendar functions.

The Leda Chronodate is powered by the manual-wind caliber Landeron 80. This is nothing unusual at first, as there are a number of vintage watch brands that used this movement for their calendar watches. What makes this Leda watch so special is the way the calendar functions are set. On most watches with the Landeron 80 caliber, the day of the week, month and date are set using small buttons at 10:00, 2:30 and 8:00, requiring a setting pin. With the Leda Chronodate, however, the rotating bezel takes over this task. The bezel is turned clockwise until a clear "click" is heard and one of the three "stations" for setting the date, the day of the week or the month is reached. The respective display can then be set by briefly rotating the bezel backwards. This unusual mechanism is extremely rare and simply cool.

And by the way, how beautiful is the three-register salmon dial with big Arabic numerals. The sub-registers appear darker when viewed from certain angles. The dial with the red date at 6 o'clock is slightly larger than the other two sub-registers at 3 and 9 o'clock. The day of the week and the month are displayed in French in the apertures at 12 o'clock.

The striking look of the watch is not only due to the dial, but also to the size of the case. A diameter of 38mm for a watch from the 1950s is quite rare. The flat bezel makes the watch appear even larger on the wrist.
