Description
The reverse panda MK1 version of the legendary Universal Geneve Space Compax is truly rare - especially well-preserved examples.

The Space Compax is a diver's watch from the 1960s that was developed for extreme conditions and was water-resistant to 750 feet. Due to its rarity, exceptional design and reliable movement, it is very popular with vintage collectors today. While the later version had a completely black dial, the early MK1 version had a reverse panda dial with silver-colored sub-dials. The MK1 also had a large "12" and full lume hour markers.

Another special feature of the Space Compax is its asymmetrical case. To better protect the crown and pushers, the right-hand side of the case was made thicker. The resulting asymmetrical shape is still a uniquely recognizable feature of vintage Universal Genève watches today.

For a Universal Space Compax to be considered particularly collectible, the reference and serial numbers engraved on the case back should be visible. The numbers are often no longer visible due to numerous polishings of the case, which drastically reduces the value of the watch. On the case back of this Space Compax, the numbers are still there. Even the acrylic crystal with the UG logo in the center is 100% original.

Dial: perfect condition - original tritium luminous material in the markers and hands - signed "Swiss T".

Case: great condition - very slight signs of wear - reference and serial number visible on the back - bidirectional rotating bezel - small (barely visible) chip on the bezel at 6 o'clock - intact rubber pushers - signed winding crown.

Movement: manual-wound caliber Universal Genève 85 (Valjoux 72) runs flawlessly in all functions - values on the time scale: +62s/day, amplitude: 235, beat error: 0.0.

Bracelet: greatly preserved original Universal Genève stainless steel bracelet - few signs of wear.
